anything fancy but because it is the car that is commonly used at spinning competitions.
Spinning is an off-road game or maybe sport where drivers perform tricks — revving up the engines, yanking up the handbrake and dangerously turning in circles at high speed.
They screech tyres, jump in and out of the spinning car and even stand on the bonnet while it is in motion.
In countries like South Africa spinning is legal, provided it is done in an enclosed arena, which revellers call a “spin city”. By the way, a national league in spinning will be established this year across the Limpopo.
And this Sunday, the Borrowdale Racecourse will play host to Spin City, one of the biggest car spinning shows in Harare starting at 12 noon.
Dubbed “Heroes Weekend Showdown”, the spinners who include Goofa, Maurice, Hamoo, Leon Schuster, Sleeky and Rajoo from Polokwane, Limpopo Province, in South Africa are expected to turn on the heat and dazzle fans with their car spinning antics.
There will be guest spinners in the form of Fat Cat, Shanon and Tyler.
Adding to the fun will be free jumping castles for children and music courtesy of disc jockeys on rotation.
The last time car spinners were at Borrowdale Racecourse they left the crowd with goose bumps with their breathtaking skills behind the wheels. The Spin City is co- hosted by Chop Chop Motors and P&M Motors.
Patson Chimbodza of P&M Motors, better known as a music promoter, urged fans and car enthusiasts to come to Spin City.
“Come and enjoy not only seeing the BMWs spin when the driver is outside or on top of the bonnet but to experience the sheer driving pleasure just like the way
Alick Macheso plays his guitar we also can do more with the BMW,” he said.
