There was chaos at Stodart Hall in Mbare when popular dancehall artistes Soul Jah Love, Bounty Lisa, their 20-man band and many fans failed to gain entry into the venue. The entrance was characterised by a lot pushing and shoving as fans clashed with bouncers manning the gate of the oversubscribed show.
Soul Jah Love, who was supposed to perform at the event, was barred from entering the event after his band members were deemed to many and could not enter for free.
The bash was meant to celebrate Killer T’s 23rd birthday.
Soul Jah Love’s wife Bounty Lisa said they were shocked to be told that only three people from their band would be allowed to enter.
“They knew we had brought our full band but we were told that only three people would be allowed and when some of the bouncers became violent so we just left the venue,” she said.
One of the show organisers Jekie Dzambatsa, said he was told that Soul Jah Love had brought about 20 people.
“Yes we were informed about the fracas but according to the report we got, Soul Jah Love brought twenty people which resulted in the fracas between the musician and the bouncers,” he said.
Artistes and fans were using the same entrance and popular music promoter Patson “ chipaz” Chimbodza also failed to enter into the venue as most people blamed the organisers for poor planning.
Fans outside the venue turned to into a car spinning showcase.
Away from the chaotic scenes outside the venue, Emegy Chizanga, better known as Freeman, birthday boy Killer T, Gaspy Warrior and Shinsoman battled it out to rousing cheers from the vociferous fans.
