Panthers Taekwondo club will on 14 July hold a family fun day where they will scout for young taekwondo hopefuls between the ages of three and 14 at Bulawayo’s leafy suburb of Burnside.
President of Panthers Taekwondo club Vusumuzi Ncube said the event which will be held at Leisure Centre in Burnside is aimed at attracting and identifying young talent.
“We have sent invitations to more than 200 parents inviting them to bring their children who are between the ages of three and 14. So far 50 parents have confirmed their participation. We will use that opportunity to identify potential talent” said Ncube.
Ncube indicated that they have adopted the catch them young strategy.
“Our club is focusing on grooming young talent so that they grow in the sport and become ace competitors who will raise our country’s flag high in regional and international competitions,” said.
Ncube said they invited gold medalists Daniel Gwetu (4) and Nomsa Moyo (3) to conduct displays.
“Daniel and Nomsa will conduct displays to the hopefuls and we have also invited other medalists who participated in Taekwondo cadet championship which was held in March this year here in Zimbabwe,” Ncube said.
