Paramount Garments scooped the exporter of the year award at the Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries awards dinner held in Bulawayo last Thurday.
The company owns Bulawayo-based Archer Clothing and have been manufacturing garments in Zimbabwe since 1948.
Archer Clothing has since pushed up production to 74 percent of capacity after committing nearly $3, 5 million towards working capital and refurbishment of equipment.
The company which was placed under judicial management in 2010, was bought by Paramount Garments in 2015.
The parent company last year set aside $5 million to recapitalise the company over five years.
Paramount Garments is Zimbabwe’s leading manufacturer and exporter of protective clothing and work wear, security wear, school wear, safety shoes and uniforms.
First and second runners up exporters were Schweppes Zimbabwe Limited and Varichem Pharmaceuticals respectively.
The energy efficiency category was won by Tobacco Processors Zimbabwe (TPZ), the company responsible for the processing of over 42 percent of Zimbabwe’s annual tobacco crop.
First runner up in this category was SinoZim while Delta Beverages came second.
Zimbabwe’s largest milk processor Dairibord Zimbabwe Limited went away with the company of the year award while AFDIS and Colcom were first and second runners up respectively.
The Buy-Zim award was snatched by N. Richards, a wholesale and retail giant with 26 branches spread across Zimbabwe.
First and second runners up were OK Zimbabwe and MetroPeech wholesalers respectively.
