THE parents who hid part of the US$40 000 loot, which their son had stolen, have been sentenced to six months in prison.

John Tuhwe (51) and Gciniso Ndlovu (43), hid the loot, in the wardrobe and in a fridge, including a plastic bag which also contained some meat.

The husband and wife team appeared at Kwekwe Magistrates’ Court where they were each jailed for six months for concealing stolen money.

Their son, Calvin Tuhwe, who stole the money, is still at large.

In a statement, the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), said the husband and wife hid US$680 in a wardrobe.

They also hid US$5200 in a plastic bag, containing meat, inside a fridge.

The theft was carried out on May 15, last year.

Calvin and his accomplices broke into the complainant’s home, stealing the large sum of money.

Calvin fled after sharing the loot with his parents.
