PARENTS have been urged to pay school fees for their children consistently and on time as the funds are critical for infrastructure and project development of the educational institutions.
This was said by Zanu Pf shadow Member of Parliament for Magwegwe Constituency Cde Menziwa Dube when he donated stationery to young learners who finished Early Child Development (ECD) at Mthimkhulu Primary School in Magwegwe West on Wednesday.
The little boys and girls who finished ECD this year will start Grade One in 2026.
The 61 learners will each receive 16 books and 10 pencils each to use during the first term of the 2026 school calendar.
Cde Dube was addressing parents of the graduating ECD learners when he called on them to prioritise the payment of school fees before the start of each school term.
“Most of the parents who are here today watching their children graduate are also products of Mthimkhulu Primary School and witnessed the school’s development since its establishment in 1990.
“Infrastructure development requires money which the school gets when parents pay school fees for their children. The school has a number of income generating projects that it has lined up but these require money to implement and I humbly ask parents to pay school fees on time before the start of each term,” said Cde Dube.
Working together with the school management and the School Development Committee (SDC), Cde Dube has identified a site where he will bankroll the drilling of a borehole for the expansion of the Mthimkhulu Primary School’s nutrition gardens and chicken rearing project.
“We have enough underground water in the school to increase the number of our vegetable gardens and start a chicken rearing project.
“We cannot fail to feed our children under the schools feeding programme when we can produce our own vegetables, eggs and chickens,”
He also donated 100 kilogrammes of mealie meal and 50 kilogrammes of sugar beans to the school.
