Parkview Lions battle Wise Waters

PARKVIEW Lions will be out to maintain pressure on the Bulawayo Metropolitan Province Darts League pacesetters Archers when they take on mid-table side Wise Waters this evening.

Archers remain the only unbeaten team in the league, having dismissed defending champions Railstars and Zimbabwe School of Mines with impressive wins in their last two outings.

Lions are tied on eight points with Archers, but the log leaders have a game in hand.

George Dube, Lions’ captain, said his side was ready for Wise Waters.

“Right now I think Archers are feeling pressure because once you’re at the top, you are a target for all the teams.

“Actually you motivate opponents to play better and what we want is to continue with our fine run against Wise Waters on Wednesday evening and pick maximum points. It won’t be easy, but we’re determined to keep up with the table toppers,” said Dube.

He believes the championship will be won in the second half of the season.

Lions have gone on an impressive seven-game unbeaten run, with their only defeat being a 16-23 loss to Archers in Week Two.

“We have a good side and for us to win the title, we have to keep winning our games and better the aggregate. We also have to beat Archers in the second half (of the season) by a bigger margin instead of rallying on other teams to do the job for us,” said Dube.

Veteran Moses Ndlovu, Khulani Bhebhe, Geophrey Mazonde and Dennis Nkomo are some of the players Lions rely on.

In other matches, an epic clash is on the cards at the Highlanders Clubhouse where Bosso will play host to defending champions Railstars.

Both teams are coming from impressive wins in which Railstars beat Bellevue 29-10, while Bosso beat Khami 17-22.
