1233: The National Anthem is being sung outside Parliament.

1231: President Mugabe and First Lady Dr Grace Mugabe, accompanied by Service Chiefs, have left Parliament.

1228: The President has declared the second session of the 8th Parliament open.

1226: We indeed stand opposed to the unilateralism of other nations…we also continue to relentlessly demand the total removal of the illegal sanctions imposed on the country.

1221: The water and sanitation upgrading programme will also be rolled out to other urban centres.

1220: The Primary and Secondary schools curriculum is being reviewed. The E-Learning programme…. is also being introduced at all school levels.

1219: The economic meltdown…has severely weakened the health service delivery system..our efforts to support the ministry’s recovery will be boosted by $89 million loan concluded with the ChinaExim Bank for the procurement of ambulances, medicines.

1216: It is depressing that some of our people have turned into mere fronts..defeating the efforts of our indigenisation programmes.

1212: Efforts are being made to boost tourist arrivals from other source markets like Brazil, China. Poor transport infrastructure has been a drawback…the upgrading of the Plumtree-Mutare highway…upgrades at Vic Falls are progressing well.

1211: Government.. is working on measures to ease the cost of doing business in the country.

1209: Artisanal miners will be closely supervised..in order to minimise leakages of minerals.

1208: Work on the establishment of Zimbabwe Diamond Bourse is already in progress.

1207: Global trends point to the growing involvement of the private sector in the provision of infrastructural projects, a joint bill will be tabled in this session of Parliament in line with Zim Asset.

1204: He says Zimbabweans could have been prejudiced of the money in the change over from Zim dollar to US dollars. Government will put a Commission to look at the methods used to change.

1202: President Mugabe is now addressing Parliament.

1200: All are at attention as the National Anthem is played.

1140: Some people at Africa Unity Square break into song “Gamatox inourayisa” and then chant “Pasi nevano pandukira President Mugabe”

1136: The mounted regiment escorts President Mugabe as he arrives at Parliament. President inspects guard of honour.

1113: Vice President, Joice Mujuru has arrived at Parliament building.

1102: Chief Fortune Charumbira arrives at Parliament building with with chiefs from various parts of the country.

1056: President Mugabe and First Lady Dr Grace Mugabe have arrived at State House and they will be leaving leaving for Parliament shortly. Police commissioner general, Augustine Chihuri has also arrived.

1051: The crowds have been pushed deep into Africa Unity Square. There is rope barricade which is manned by police officers officers. Two big LCD screens have been put in place for them to watch the proceedings.

1047: Finance Minister Patrick Chinamasa, Tourism Minister Walter Mzembi, Deputy Housing Minister Joe Biggie Matiza, Foreign Affairs Minister, Simbarashe Mumbengegwi have arrived  while some MPs are milling outside Parliament building.

1018: Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs ambassador Christopher Mutsvangwa and Senior Minister, Simon Khaya Moyo have arrived.

1001: Hundreds of people are gathered outside parliament building. Members of various apostolic sects are singing from one corner while Zanu PF youths sing from another.

President Mugabe has summoned Parliament for the official opening of the Second Session of the Eighth Parliament today, where he is expected to set the legislative agenda.
He summoned Parliament in a proclamation in the Government Gazette published last Friday
