A pastor of a Pentecostal church has been rescued from committing suicide by responders who saw him attempting to hang himself in a tree with a rope and raised the alarm.
The incident happened near Ben Wosley, Ada George, Port Harcourt, Rivers State in Nigeria.
The rescuers, alongside some policemen, successfully untied the rope from his neck and poured water on him before he regained consciousness. Shortly after regaining awareness, the pastor asked of the whereabouts of his wife and daughter, who were both at the scene of the incident, crying profusely.
The yet-to-be-identified pastor kept screaming “I’m tired” when interviewed.
Narrating what led to his action, he said: “I’m tired. You people should allow me to die. Since 2000, that I opened my ministry, no members, only 15 members! God, you called me, I have fasted, I have prayed, I have done everything to make sure my church grows. I have gone for evangelism, I have gone for morning call, I have called for night vigil, I have done everything so that my church will grow.”
He added: “My colleagues that I went to church school together with, they’re doing well, their church have grown, they’re travelling abroad while mine is not growing. I will host crusade, I will not even see money to settle the debts incurred. I have done everything. I cannot even pay my house rent.”
Lady turns into a snake
An anonymous Ghanaian man has narrated how a stranded lady he helped in Shiashie at Accra turned into a giant cobra while they were on their way to Kasoa.
According to him in a post on social media, she saw the stranded lady on a roadside and after reaching out to her, he noticed that she needed a ride to Kasoa.
As a good Samaritan and someone also heading that same direction, he assisted the lady.
On their way, the man said he turned to steal a glance at the lady but he could not find her in the car.
Upon parking the car, to search thoroughly, he said discovered the lady had transformed into a big cobra.
With fear and anxiety, the man said he left the car behind and took to his heels.
I slept with my son to give my husband a child
A mother has confessed to making love with her biological son just to have a baby for her husband.
Matina Agawua, a native of Yelwata, in Nasarawa State lost her first husband to herdsmen attack in Northern Nigeria.
Her first marriage produced a son.
She remarried years after the death of her husband but had difficulties having a child with her second husband, James.
After six years of marriage with no child, Matina started getting pressured by her mother-in-law and her current husband to have a child or the marriage will be over.
Matina’s husband threatened to take a new wife and this bothered Matina because she and her husband had contributed money to build the house they live in, with Matina providing a greater share.
It troubled Matina to have another woman living in the house she built with her husband.
As a result, Matina decided to sleep with her teenage son from her first marriage to see if she could have a child for her second husband.
“We had been married for more than six years but were still childless due to my husband’s fault, according to doctor’s report, and I was hearing from the grapevine that he was planning to take a second wife on the grounds that I could not give him a child,” Matina told The Nation.
Matina said had undergone a test on her own since her husband refused to go for one and the result showed that there was nothing wrong with her medically.
To prove that she is fertile, she decided to lure her own son, a student in Akwanga, into a secret affair, while warning him to keep it secret.
She told The Nation: “Since he is not comfortable with us going for medical check-up on the assumption that nothing was wrong with him, I decided to convince my little son, who is just about 16 years old and schooling in Akwanga.
“I visited him regularly. He stays in a private apartment with my relatives, so I was going there to spend some time with them, especially on weekends when my market is off.
“It was actually difficult making love with my own son, but circumstances forced me to go into it. I needed to be sure of my fertility. I know my husband very well. If he discovered I had an affair with a man outside, he would kill me.
“I love him so much and I’m afraid of him, so this evil plan kept ringing in my mind to know how fertile I am,” said Matina. Matina said she had not slept with her husband for three months prior to the abominable act. That same month she fell pregnant. However, when she shared the news with her husband, he suspected foul play. James accused Matina of adultery and threatened violence resulting in her confessing.
Matina’s son was questioned and he confirmed everything. Matina told the publication: “I am not a loose woman. I am just a woman who loves her husband very much and didn’t want to hurt or lose him.”
“…look at my age. I’m not getting younger and my husband was not prepared to address the matter medically.
“I know I was doing the wrong thing and betraying my husband, but I saw it as a lesser evil than going outside.”
Matina’s husband insisted he would not accept a pregnancy that is not his. The wife now fears for her life and has since left the matrimonial home.
Curse turns man blind
A man only identified as Felix Kalimba (24) has gone blind after seeing an old woman naked in the early hours of the morning in Kamilende area of Lukulu district, Zambia.
Felix who was coming from Watopa area, saw an old woman relieving herself by the roadside around 6am and stared fixedly at her. The woman told Felix to stop, but he did not listen.She then said, “Meto ya hao a kwalelele ku zwa onafa” (May your eyes get closed for good).
Upon reaching Kamilende area, Felix felt something like a slap on his face and that is how he lost his eye site.
His family is still trying to locate the old lay for a possible remedy. — Wires.
