A SIGNS and Wonders International Ministries pastor, who was accused of threatening to shoot his estranged wife, has been cleared by a court.
Pastor Tanyaradzwa Beni was dragged to the Harare Civil Court by Michelle Mareya.
She claimed Beni had threatened to shoot her at her parents’ house.
“He comes to my mother’s house and threatens to shoot me with his gun. On Sunday, he came and told my parents that we need to talk while I was not around,” said Michelle.
She played audio recordings of Beni threatening to take their matrimonial property, which she took to her parents’ house, when their relationship turned sour.
“I will use force to collect the car,” Beni could be heard saying in the recording.
Beni said he took the vehicle when he found it being driven by someone he doesn’t know.
“I only went there to see my ill child and leave the child’s clothes.
“She applied for this peace order because she has a pending theft case at Mbare Magistrates’ Court because she took all our matrimonial property and left me with one pair of clothes,” said Beni.
He also produced a transfer of ownership certificate which shows that Michelle was the new owner of the car.
“I am trying my best to mend our relationship as a pastor and I even transferred the car’s ownership into her name,” he said.
Magistrate Sharon Mashavira dismissed Michelle’s application after she failed to convince the court that she was being threatened.
