CONTEMPORARY gospel singer and preacher, Pastor Stanley Gwanzura, is on cloud nine after losing 33 kilos.

Simply known as Pastor G, the energetic performer said he was now focusing on weight loss for a healthy lifestyle’s sake.

He told H-Metro he has revised his diet to ensure he wins the battle against obesity.

“I am very happy to have lost 33 kilos after deciding to work on my health, as well as diet.

“Many people knew me for my big tummy and body but now I am getting there after making the right decision to go to the gym where I am being helped by trainers.

“I started in March this year when I weighed 193 kilos and I am happy that I have lost 33 kilos,” he said.

The decorated gospel singer, marriage counsellor and motivational speaker, said he was now strict with his workout regime.

“I have joined a gym in Westgate where I am working with popular trainer Zorro.

“I’m mainly focusing on cardio, dance and Zumba under the programme we call 50 by 50, since I am over 50 years.

“I’m really enjoying the decision that I have taken because I am now living a healthy lifestyle.

“As you know obese people are prone to diseases such as diabetes and hypertension but I am grateful to God that I don’t have any of the above,” he said.

Pastor G said he has cut his intake of carbohydrates to ensure he wins his battle against obesity.

“I used to live to eat but now I eat to live,” he said.

“I’m no longer on a sugar diet, I have cut out on carbohydrates. I now walk two kilometres a day.

“But, it is the diet side where I have made sure that I completely change to win this fight.

“If you remember , I used to drink four litres of coke per day – I realised that it was taking its toll on me.”

He, however, conceded it was not easy to change his diet.

“I had to go on a 21-day rigorous regime where I finally made sure that I quit my old habits, especially my diet.

“Living with obesity is not something that I wanted but I was getting comfort from the Lord.

“While my body is the temple of the Lord, I have realised that it was high time that I maintained that body,” he said.

Meanwhile, Pastor G’s latest single titled Mirira is doing well.

“I will be releasing my 13th album in October which carries 14 tracks.

“For the greater part of the lockdown, I was working on singles such as Mweya Mutsvene, Zvichanaka, Mirira, Ishe Komborera, among others.

“I recorded numerous songs during that period and I am happy that everything went according to plan,” he said.
