A BULAWAYO pastor, Hloniphani Ndlovu, of the Brethren In Christ Church, has penned a book about his life experiences chronicling that a person’s history does not determine their future.Popularly known as Pastor H at his parish in New Lobengula suburb, Ndlovu’s book He Lifts Me Up, took him four years to write, edit and print.
The book is available at Matopo Book Centre and Jesus Life Ministries at a cost of $10. It is worth the read.
Ndlovu said the book showed that God was always lifting up people no matter how many times they fall.
“The word lifts shows that it’s a continual process that God is doing of lifting people up when they have fallen. We serve a God that wants the best for his people and has unconditional love for all his children,” he said.
The Gwanda born Ndlovu said he had a rough childhood and wanted to share those experiences with people so that they find lasting biblical solutions for life’s problems.
“I grew up poor and without parents after they split. The challenges in Gwanda’s Nkashe village made me mature at a very young age. I struggled to get food and go to school but I ended up completing my education by fending for myself here and there and getting help from people,” he said.
Ndlovu said he was inspired to pen the 71-page book after realising that the youth of today are growing up in broken families and face hardships in life.
“The main target for the book is youth of today who have grown up with no parents or single parents. There are a lot of emotions that they go through when they grow up in such environments,” he said.
Ndlovu said he became a Christian 20 years ago and that was when his life changed for the better.
“I became a Christian in 1994 and that was when life started to fall in place. I then served in church leadership about 10 years later after I was ordained as a pastor in 2006,” he said.
Ndlovu said although he was a pastor he was also working to fend for his family. “I’m still working as an accountant at Innscor. Juggling being a pastor isn’t easy but I enjoy the challenge. One has to fend for himself and also take care of the flock. The challenges I face make me set targets for myself in both my work and pastoral life,” he said.
Ndlovu is married to Chipo and the couple have two children and live in Burnside.
