FOR the cause of the nation, the rivals in this year’s Castle Lager Premiership title race — Saul Chaminuka and Callisto Pasuwa — will unite and work together when they lead the Young Warriors in an international friendly this weekend.
Pasuwa is the head in the national Under-23 coaching set-up while ZPC Kariba’s Chaminuka is his assistant.
Their clubs are engaged in a scintilating battle for the league championship with ZPC Kariba leading the race, with two points, with just a game to play.
ZPC Kariba powered to the top of the table after a sensational 2-1 victory over Dynamos at the National Sports Stadium on Saturday.
Early in the season, ZPC Kariba edged Dynamos 1-0 at the same venue.
There is still one round of matches to go and ZPC Kariba, on 56 points, will meet CAPS United while Dynamos take on How Mine.
DeMbare are two points behind and would be praying that CAPS United beat ZPC Kariba while they beat How Mine.
But before they pray for luck to befall on each other, Pasuwa and Chaminuka combine their football wits and lead the national Under-23 side in an international friendly against Morocco this weekend, sharing some notes for the good of the nation.
The Zimbabwe Under-23 national team are set to leave for Morocco on tomorrow evening to play the North African side in an international friendly match November 16 at the Grand Stade de Agadir in Agadir.
On two previous occasions, Chaminuka has taken charge of the team as Pasuwa had pressing commitments elsewhere.
Zimbabwe lost 0-1 to Botswana and then beat Swaziland 2-0.
