CALLISTO Pasuwa has won SEVEN titles in his SEVEN seasons in charge of football clubs in Zimbabwe and Malawi.
He is now set for an EIGHTH title in his EIGHT seasons in charge of a top-flight club.
And, there could be even something special this season.
His Nyasa Big Bullets side could win the league championship unbeaten and also lay claim to be called the Invincibles.
They are unbeaten in their 22 league matches so far and if they avoid defeat, in their last eight matches, they will complete the entire season without losing a match.
Second-placed Kamuzu Barracks on Sunday cut leaders Nyasa Big Bullets’ lead to nine points at the top of the TNM Super League.
The People’s Team, who are chasing a fourth successive tile and 16th overall, were held to a 1-1 draw by Civo United at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre while the Malawi Defence Force side beat rookies Sable Farming 2-0 at Mpira Stadium in Chiwembe Township, Blantyre.
Bullets now have 56 points from 22 games while the Lilongwe-based soldiers have 47 points, but have played two more games.
It was the fifth draw for Bullets this season.
The champions surged ahead in the 22nd minute through their man-of-the-moment Anthony Mfune.
He slotted home a pass from lanky Nigerian forward Babatunde Adepoju.
Bullets created several chances in the first half, but failed to make them count with Adepoju the notable culprit.
Patrick Mwaungulu and Mfune’s attempts later on were kept out by Civo goalkeeper Tione Tembo.
The Civil Servants came into the second half with renewed purpose and they levelled the scores through veteran forward Innocent Tanganyika in the 77th minute with a powerful shot that gave Bullets goalminder Richard Chimbamba no chance.
Tanganyika was thrown in as a substitute for Binwell Katinji.
Buoyed by the equaliser, Civo turned on the heat, but could not hit the winner.
Pasuwa, who gave Ghanaian defender Isaac Badou his full debut, said his charges did not play well.
“Every time we are conceding goals from transition. That is what you saw today. No pressure yet, we will go back to the drawing board and work on our shortfalls,” he said. – Sports Reporter/Malawi Nation
