CALLISTO Pasuwa is just one game short of winning his EIGHTH league title on the trot.
He will likely enter the Guinness Book of Records as the first coach to win league championships in each of the years he has been in charge of a top-flight league team.
That’s an impressive record, by any stretch of imagination.
And, it becomes even more impressive when one considers the company in which Pasuwa is now found.
An eighth league title means he will match the championship haul of the Special One, Jose Mourinho.
“Like him or loathe him, the self-proclaimed Special One,’ has won 26 major honours since 2013, making him one of the most successful football managers of all time,” reported the Pledge sports website.
“He has won eight league titles during his managerial career and he has done so in four different countries – Portugal, England, Italy and Spain.
“He has won a total of 13 domestic trophies and is a two-time winner of both the Champions League and Europa League.
He is currently managing AS Roma and has recently won the UEFA Conference League.”
Pasuwa will go one league championship better than Pep Guardiola, considered by many as the best football coach today
The Manchester City manager has won seven league titles in charge of the Citizens, Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
“In 2018 Pep Guardiola won league titles in three different countries after his Manchester City side wrapped up the Premier League title,” note the Pledge sports website.
“The Spaniard has now won 26 titles as a football manager
“Some of his major league titles include three LaLiga, three Bundesliga, and one Premier League and two Champions League titles.”
Pasuwa won four league titles at Dynamos and is about to win his fourth league title at Nyasa Big Bullets.
His critics will argue that both DeMbare and Bullets are the biggest and most successful clubs in Zimbabwe and Malawi.
However, others will point out that DeMbare have not won a league title since the coach left the Glamour Boys.
