He says NBSZ should try luring blood donors with small incentives instead of waiting for free donations. “Most people have a capitalist mentality where they want to do something in return of monetary benefits, therefore if donors are given a small amount of money then more will come,” said Dr Dimingo.
“Presently, school children constitute the majority of blood donors and only a few individuals are dedicated to be blood donors.”
Dr Dimingo said the Government should also relax laws to encourage other players to independently source blood.
“If more companies are empowered to offer blood services, it means more competition which may provide quality products at lower costs.”
