A MAGISTRATE yesterday advised a man to either pay rent or leave the city and stay in his rural home.
Christen Matsinde hasn’t paid his rent for six months and was dragged to the Civil Court by his landlord, Rodney Nhiwatiwa.
“I only want him to pay me US$145 and move out of my house. I’m tired of begging him for my money.
“Last month, we were here and he was ordered to pay before the 15th of May, but he hasn’t given me anything, but rather keeps playing games with me,” Rodney said.
In his defence, Matsinde said he was willing to pay the rent before the end of the month.
“I started working and I will pay him. He just has to be patient.
“Things haven’t been well for me lately, but he keeps dragging me here,” Christen said.
Magistrate Judith Taruvinga interjected:
“What is your story? Is it your father’s house Mr Matsinde?
“The relationship between the two of you is money. Why don’t you move to the rural areas if you can’t afford to pay rent?”
Matsinde was ordered to pay US$145 before June 10 or go to jail.
