P/Cement, Old Nic Mine get Zifa Division One promotion

Sports Reporter
COMPANY sponsored teams Portland Cement and Old Nic Mine have been promoted to the Zifa Southern Region Division One.
Old Nic Mine are on top of the log standings with 70 points while Portland Cement have 68 points with a game in hand in the Bulawayo Metropolitan Province Division Two.
The other clubs cannot reach 68 points even if they win their remaining league matches.

Portland Cement though, still have a chance to clinch the title as they can finish on 71 points if they win their game in hand.
The other two teams will be from Zifa Matabeleland North Division Two as four teams are promoted every season. The teams will replace relegated Mkhosana, Ajax Hotspur and Rufaro Rovers.

Zifa Southern Region secretary Washington Sithole said the two teams will be awarded medals sometime in December.
“I can confirm that Old Nic Mine and Portland Cement have been promoted, we are just waiting for the other two teams in Matabeleland North Region. They will be presented with shields at the end of the season,” said Sithole.

He praised the standard of competition in the league this year.
“The level of competition has been high this season and I’m proud that the leagues ran smoothly,” he said.
