PREPARATIONS for the Voices in Colour Exhibitions are at an advanced stage with both local and foreign artistes having confirmed their participation.
The exhibitions, running run under the theme “Reciprocal Narratives About Place, About Home,” will be held between 22 November and 16 December at the National Gallery in Bulawayo.
In an interview, exhibition curator Mthabisi Phili said participants from South Africa, Zimbabwe, Germany and United Kingdom had registered for the event.
“Voices In Colour is an organisation that encourages connection between contemporary cultures and we are using this event to promote cultural exchange between Zimbabwe and other participating countries,” he said.
Phili said there would be inspiring displays at the exhibition.
“We will have written textbooks, paintings, videos and photographs on displays,” he said.
Among the exhibitors expected to showcase their different works at the show are Sindisiwe Buthelezi, Thabiso Sekgala, Meghan Judge, Justin Davy, Christopher Hunt and Allen Sibanda.
“We have a strong line up and we are sure they will be good competition from the first day until the last,” said Phili.
Meanwhile, on 28 November, the Visual Artist’s Association Bulawayo (VAAB) will hold the annual contemporary works of art and craft exhibition title under the theme “Visual Impact — The Element of Surprise”.
The gallery curator, Clifford Zulu said on the night the association would honour outstanding artists.
“We will be celebrating the exhibition’s 27 year anniversary and awards in categories such as Young Artist Of Promise, Best Female Artist And Overall Best Work 2013 will be awarded on the day,” he said.
Zulu said VAAB was a grouping of artists in and around Bulawayo administered by a voluntary committee elected every three years.
