PE-GATS for children to be launched

The long awaited project Providing Education with General Assurance Trans-fund for Scholars (PE-GATS), which is meant to assist the less privileged students so that they carry on with their studies is set to be launched on 5 December.

The event is going to be held at Chitungwiza Aquatic Complex from 0900 to 1430 hours and will be graced by junior parliamentarians and a number of schools from in and out of Harare.

The project which is running under the theme “Celebrating 25 years after the adaptation of the African’s children charter, accelerating our collective effects to end child marriages in Africa” is the brain child of two junior ministers Raymond Gatsi and Elton Phiri.

In an interview with Cool Lifestyle junior minister Raymond Gatsi expressed his satisfaction in the progress of the project.

“On behalf of my other junior ministers I happy that what we have been fighting hard for is now becoming a success, our main hope is that we will be able to assist all these children who are in need,” he said

He added that the project is mainly concerned with the school dropouts, orphans and other vulnerable children and the goal to help so they do not suffer because their parents can’t afford to pay their school fees.

The project has so far assisted Monalisa Gatsi to return to school with the help of Chipo Tasaranarwo who provided a whole set of uniform and Portifa Mwendeza who pledged to pay for her fees until she finishes.
