Peace broker killed on Christmas Day

A 20-year-old Mutoko man was fatally struck with a brick on Christmas Day after he tried to stop two people from fighting. Mashonaland East assistant provincial police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Tendai Mwanza confirmed the incident and said investigations were underway. He identified the now deceased as Simon Takwanisa of Chimaiwache Village under Chief Chimoyo.

Asst Insp Mwanza said that on December 25 Tichaona Chari (24) had a dispute with Wonder Mukono (24) at Kamukira Bottle Store.
The two started fighting and Takwanisa intervened to stop the fight.

He said Chari picked up a brick and hit Takwanisa once on the head before disappearing from the scene.

Takwanisa fell unconscious and died on the way to Kapondoro Clinic.

The matter was reported at Makosa police who took Takwanisa’s body to Mutoko Hospital mortuary where it is awaiting post mortem.
Police are still looking for Chari.
