THE National Peace and Reconciliation Commission(NPRC) has lined up several meetings with churches, political parties and the civil society as part of its mission to entrench peace and unity for the betterment of the country.
The organisation’s spokesperson Advocate Obert Gutu underscored the importance of peace in nation building saying they will conduct a series of meetings with various stakeholders in Harare Metropolitan province.
Various stakeholders including war veterans through their association, civil society organisations, heads of Christion denominations, political parties will be engaged in meetings that start today as part of activities lined to commemorate International Day of Peace on September 21.
“We have lined up a series of meetings with various stakeholders so as to observe peace as the nation drifts towards elections. We want to get the opportunity to discuss with various stakeholders with the particular focus on peace building exercises within Harare Metropolitan Province,’ he said.
The NPRC was established under sections 251 to 253 of the constitution to ensure post – conflict justice, healing and reconciliation, to develop programmes to promote national healing, unity and peaceful conflict resolution.
