Pellegrini was forced late last week to abandon City’s pre-season preparations in South Africa to return to his native Chile.
But he arrived in Hong Kong yesterday and will go in search of his first win as City’s boss today in the Barclays Asia Trophy. They face local side South China.
“He’s just arrived this afternoon and sends his apologies to everyone for not being able to make this press conference,” Kidd said yesterday.
City defender and skipper Vincent Kompany praised the “flair” of Pellegrini, who was appointed last month as successor to the sacked Roberto Mancini.
“There’s a certain flair to his methods,” Kompany said of his new boss.
“He looks like a very decent human being as well.
“We’ve trained really hard and we’ve adapted to a new style but I think everyone in the team is willing to learn.” — AFP.
