Performing artistes set to be rewarded

The bash will be held at Chipinge Primary School on March 3.
The event is aimed at celebrating the life and achievements of President Mugabe who turned 88 on Tuesday.
“We have introduced a competition to encourage competitiveness among artistes. There will be prizes for three artistes for the Best Act.
“People will vote through SMS to select bands of their choice. We will announce through the print and electronic media the numbers which members of the public will be using in the voting process once we finalise with Potraz on the numbers to use for voting,” he said.
Mutambudzi called upon artistes to put up polished acts if they want to scoop the prizes.
“We are encouraging artistes to give polished acts,” he said. On the other hand, members of the public who make the correct predictions of the winning artistes in their order will also get prizes.
“The first prize will be a night for two at A’Zambezi Hotel in Victoria Falls plus US$400 prize money, while US$200 and a night for two at Ancient City in Masvingo will be awarded to the second prize winner.
“We therefore encourage members of the public to participate,” he said.
The gala will start at 4pm and end the next day just before 12 midday. It will feature more than 40 artistes including established and upcoming musicians.
Topping the bill will be Alick Macheso, Suluman Chimbetu, Madzibaba Nicholas Zakaria, Jah Prayzer, Iyasa, Mercy Mutsvene, Peter Moyo, Diana Samkange, Bob Nyabinde, Mbare Chimurenga Choir, Cde Chinx, Jays Marabini Biggie Tembo Jnr, Moses Rwizi and RBG Top Sungura, among others.
This year’s event will be held under the theme: “Wealth to the Youth”.
“The theme is within the context of the indigenous and empowerment policy. The liberation struggle was fought for empowerment and by this we are saying wealth should also go to our youth and ensure a brighter future for Zimbabwe,” Mutambudzi said.
