PETER Moyo’s former band member, Dickson “Mwana Nzambe” Siwela, has hailed the Utakataka Express heir for ushering him into the world.

The South Africa-based sungura artist worked with Peter from 2012-2014, as an instrumentalist.

From there, he became an independent artist and started his own musical journey.

In an interview with H-Metro, Mwana Nzambe says he gives credit to Peter for being his mentor.

“I worked with Peter Moyo as a band member, to be honest, we were in good books and we are still cool.

“Peter was my mentor and he taught me to be self-confident and to believe that everything is possible as long as you are passionate.

“I really want to thank him for the essential role he played in my life, as well as my career,” he said.

“I recorded one album with Peter titled Mira Newako.

“I learnt a lot from him that time, professionalism is one of the principles I learnt from Peter.”

Mwana Nzambe relocated to South Africa in 2014 and started his own musical journey.

“It’s never easy to start from scratch when you used to be dependent on someone else.

“I remember the time I relocated to South Africa, as an independent musician.

“It was not easy but life is full of ups and downs but, to me, people who are focused will always achieve their goals.

“I recorded my first album in 2014 titled Ungandidaro Sei and the response from fans was not quite pleasing,”he said.

The Kwekwe-bred singer says he is not going to quit music, no matter what.

“Giving up is not an option when it comes to goals in life.

“I am not going to quit music, no matter the circumstances.

“Peter inspires me in every way, if he managed to make it, why can’t I?

“I know that one day I will be a prominent sungura artist,” he said.

To date, Mwana Nzambe has recorded three albums – Ungandidaro Sei in 2014, Hope Hadzina Ndima (2016) and Kudza Gwara (2019).

He recently released a single track titled Kasi Rangu.
