Pfumbidzai’s eye for goal

Scottland defender Ronald Pfumbidzai is looking forward to adding his goal-scoring tally after opening his account for the Northern Region Soccer League side against Banket United on Friday.

The former SuperSport United defender was unfortunate not to have registered a brace as his second effort was ruled out for offside.

Pfumbidzai said he has now regained match fitness after seeing himself on the sidelines due to an injury.

“I am happy to score my first goal for the club. I want to add more goals and help the team achieve its targets.

“Going into the match against Banket I told my teammates that I was going to score and I managed to score the second goal.

“It was unfortunate that I was flagged for offside but I believe more goals will come my way. I enjoyed the moment I scored.

“I can say the game against Banket was the first game I played feeling that I was match fitness.

“In the previous game was thrown in the fold coming from an injury spell and has been adjusting.”

Scottland will be facing Ngezi Under-19 tomorrow at Baobab.

They are on 46 points, three points adrift of log leaders Black Rhinos.

“They will be hoping to keep on piling the pressure on the top teams.

“We are aiming to be promoted to the top flight.

“We are just three points behind log leaders so we have a big chance to close the gap.

“We have a huge task ahead of our upcoming games as there are a lot of expectations from the people and the fans to see the club performing well.

“We need to work more hard as a team and make sure that we keep the momentum and keep piling pressure.

“There is a need to put in more hard work.

“Playing with other top players is not an issue for me, it’s good as you know most of the players here have played together before.

“Some of the guys here played together in Highfield and Chitungwiza so the understanding is there,” he said.
