A field events specialist, Pfupajena was attached to local athletics club Luxoc where he excelled in javelin and high-jump.
Speaking before his departure yesterday afternoon, the 20-year old athlete said he hopes the breakthrough will see him representing Zimbabwe at the major international games.
“I feel very excited at getting this opportunity.
“Now I am looking forward to improving,” said Pfupajena.
After settling down at his new base, Pfupajena said he will try and qualify to represent Zimbabwe at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
“If the time and chance presents itself, then I will try to get a place for the London 2012 Games.
“But if I cannot make it then I will focus on other events and definitely I should be aiming for the next Olympic Games in 2016,” said Pfupajena.
The athlete’s best throw in javelin is 55m and he is confident that, with better training facilities and hard work, he can set higher standards.
Luxoc director, Silas Muringani, was delighted with his athlete breaking new ground.
