Pheko, Meme back on ‘Muvhango’

“Muvhango” is a soapie based on the interaction between the more modern Soweto-based family and the established cultural family in Venda. This provides exceptional opportunity for dramatic conflict weighing and balancing the old against the new. Western versus traditional, individualism versus community, self-enrichment versus ubuntu.
In this season, Pheko will reprise his role to claim what rightfully belongs to him while Meme returns for a recurring arc as the villainous Meme.
Rapulana Seiphemo is a seasoned actor who started his career in theatre and manually progressed to television in the late 90s to become one of the country’s top rated actors. Seiphemo recently starred in “Skeem”, “How to Steal Two Million” and produced the locally acclaimed film “White Wedding”.
Stage actress Tsholo Monedi who got her introduction to television viewers by playing Meme in “Muvhango” has also stole hearts with her recent work in “The Lion King” stage production where she played the role of Nala.
“Muvhango” publicist Kgalema Eugene Mametse said: “Both actors possess all the intensity and charisma required for television soapies and we are thrilled to welcome them back to our screens.”
As “Muvhango” gears itself for series 14, viewers will no longer have the pleasure of seeing the bubbly receptionist, Pearl (Jo-Anne Reyneke) as she is leaving the soapie to pursue other interests. Thandaza’s nephew Spha (Phila Mazikbuko) will be available to the production on a call basis.
Speaking of Jo-Anne’s departure, Mametse said: “This remarkable young actress will be missed by the production for her tenacity and energy.”
