PHIL YER BOOTS

IPSWICH and Fulham have shown interest in taking England midfielder Kalvin Phillips on loan from Manchester City.

Everton boss Sean Dyche is a long standing admirer of the former Leeds man and is also keeping tabs on his situation.

Phillips, 28, has featured regularly during pre-season for the champions – even playing at centre-back during the tour of the USA.

But he knows that with 13 players who featured at the Euros coming back into the squad, he is unlikely to get chances if he stays at the Etihad.

His performances in the States at least put him in the shop window – but City are aware a permanent move away will be difficult for now.

Phillips has endured a tough couple of years since moving from his boyhood club for £45million in summer 2022.

He struggled for fitness and form early on – then found it difficult to get a regular run in the team – with Pep Guardiola unconvinced he could deputise for Rodri.

A loan switch to West Ham followed last January but the former England man failed to revitalise his career. Phillips gave away a goal on his debut and never recovered, starting just three games for the Hammers and getting sent off in a 2-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest.

Italian side Roma, Germans RB Leipzig and their Austrian sister club RB Salzburg have all been linked with moves for Phillips.

Galatasaray have also joined the race after seeing a below par £12.6million offer for Manchester United’s Scott McTominay rejected. Meanwhile, Ipswich are also closing in on the signing of Blackburn striker Sammie Szmodics – Sun.
