Picture leads to motorcyclist’s arrest

A picture published in The Herald last Monday of a 30-year-old Mutorashanga man who was carrying his two children on a motorbike without wearing crash helmets has led to his arrest.Mashonaland West provincial police spokesperson Inspector Clemence Mabgweazara confirmed the arrest of Jacob Chrispen of H33 Vanad Mine.

Insp Mabgweazara said Chrispen was charged with four offences: riding a motorbike without insurance and current vehicle licence, failure to wear safety helmets and driving without a  licence.

He was fined a total of  US$55 for the four offences. It is alleged that police launched a search for Chrispen with the aim of arresting him following publication of his picture in The Herald of last Monday in which he was carrying his two children on a motorbike without crash helmets.

They arrested Chrispen who was then asked to pay fines for his four offences.
