ONE of the country’s largest seed manufacturers, Pioneer Hi-Bred Zimbabwe, said it will re-establish all the dealers that had been selling their products in Chipinge and Chimanimani districts and ensure that farmers receive the appropriate varieties ahead of the next farming season.
Pioneer Hi-Bred Zimbabwe sales manager Mr Tich Mapongah said they will also provide training to farmers on how they could resuscitate their farming activities in the affected communities.
“We were really touched by what happened in Chimanimani and Chipinge and as an organisation that works with communities we decided to come and assist so that the communities find solace after the disaster,” he said.
“Remember we are into seed production and our aim is to make sure that seed is available when it’s time of planting. We are going to make sure that our dealers have enough seed.
“We want to re-establish all the dealers that we have been working with and ensure that we train them to be ready for the season and make sure that the right varieties are available,” he said.
The donation was received by the deputy director in the provincial minister’s office, Mr Lucky Basopo, who thanked the company for the gesture.
Mr Basopo promised to ensure that the donation reached he intended beneficiaries as prescribed by the respective districts.
“We want to assure you that we will carry the gesture to the intended beneficiaries and as directed by the districts. We will send them to Chipinge and Chimanimani as directed by the district and according to needs,” he said.
