CHEGUTU Pirates have revealed they could be playing their first matches at their Pfupajena fortress by the time the quarter-finals of the Chibuku Super Cup are staged.
The Premiership newcomers have been playing their home games at Baobab in Ngezi.
Their Pfupajena fortress is being renovated.
The Pirates believe they can reach, at least, the quarter-finals.
And, according to the club’s leadership, if all goes well, that quarter-final clash could be played at their home at Pfupajena.
Zaire were paired against Hwange in the preliminary round of the 2024 Chibuku Super Cup.
The two sides will meet at Mandava on Wednesday.
TelOne will also play Arenel Movers at the same venue on the same day.
The four teams were in the bottom half of the table after Match Day 17.
If Pirates go past Hwange, they will face Manica Diamonds in the first round.
Chegutu Pirates chairman, Eddie Chivero, was an optimistic man soon after the draw yesterday.
“It’s a fair draw, from the way I see it,” Chivero said.
“After knocking out Hwange, we are going to play Manica Diamonds and I don’t see any big cow there, we are going to give them a god run.
“We are capable of causing an upset, the boys are confident now. For you to be there you need to stand up and be counted.
“At the end of the tournament people will see what Chegutu Pirates are made of.”
Chivero revealed that there has been some progress at Pfupajena, which is undergoing renovations for it to meet Premier Soccer League standards.
“A lot is being done at Pfupajena and soon we should see some movement.
“We are very confident that soon we will be playing at our home in Chegutu.
“After knocking out Hwange and Manica we should play our quarter-final at Pfupajena,” said Chivero.
