Plan an environmental calendar: EMA

Environmental Reporter

THE Environmental Management Agency (EMA) has called for greater involvement of stakeholders in issues that promote the environment’s protection.

In a statement, EMA yesterday said participation by stakeholders in environmental issues was key in contributing to the wellbeing of the environment.

“As we begin a new year and season, it is important for us to plan how we are going to contribute to the wellbeing of the environment by planning our environmental calendar. The United Nations, the African Union and the Government of Zimbabwe have set aside environmental days.

“These observance days provide a platform for stakeholders to share ideas, experiences and insights as well as raise awareness and publicity on various environmental issues,” reads the statement.

Some of the environmental days to be commemorated include the National Clean-up Day, World Wetlands Day, World Wildlife Day, International Forest Day, World Water Day, National Fire Week, and International Day for Biological Diversity, among others.
