musician is held.

The memorial service is slated for October 8 in Chitungwiza.
The burly and fiery lead guitarist succumbed to kidney failure and diabetes last month.
Shemu Mashonganyika, aka Chibage, is tipped to take over the reins since he was close to the sungura artiste.

But Eunice dispelled speculation yesterday saying whoever is going to lead the group will only be announced after Mashakada’s memorial service.
“Tiri kumbomirira nyaradzo kuti iitwe. Chivanhu chedu hachibvumire kuti vakomana vabate basa zvinhu zvisati zvagovewa (We are waiting for his Mashakada’s memorial to be held. Tradition does not allow anything to be done before the belongings of the departed are shared among his relati- ves.)

She added: “At the moment we haven’t chosen any replacement, but we will do so after the memorial service.”

She thanked Media, Information and Publicity Minister Webster Shamu, Ray Kaukonde, Alick Macheso, Nicholas Zakaria and Chitungwiza Central Hospital staff led by Dr Obadiah Moyo to mention a few for their assistance during her time of bereavement.
Eunice also said the group would play at this year’s edition of the Chitungwiza Central Hospital Benefit Concert to be held on October 21 at the Chitungwiza Aquatic Complex where the likes of Alick Macheso,

Madzibaba Nicholas Zakaria, Hosiah Chipanga, Takesure Muronzi and gospel musician Baba Mechanic Manyeruke will perform.
During Mashakada’s funeral wake at his Chitungwiza home in Unit B, Chibage – who doubled up as a dancer and backing vocalist in the Sounds of the Muddy Face Band – had said the group would soldier on and carry on from where its leader left.

“We will soldier on. The Sounds of the Muddy Face Band is like Dynamos Football Club that goes on despite losing some of its key members.
“We were in the process of recording a new album with Mudhara (Mashakada) when he passed away and we are going to add a few songs to the album before recording.
“Amai Mashakada is rallying behind us and is going to manage the band,” Chibage said.
