THE Harare City Council is planning to ease the traffic congestion that occurs at the corner of Julius Nyerere and Kenneth Kaunda Avenue near the railway station.
This traffic jam is a nightmare for motorists travelling to and from Chitungwiza, and usually begins at corner Robert Mugabe and Julius Nyerere until just after the flyover.
Kombis are making it even more difficult for motorists by parking just after the flyover.
Council spokesperson, Stanley Gama, said they will prioritise this intersection in their plans, and have deployed traffic officers to help with decongestion after hours from about 4.30pm to around 9pm, including weekends.
“Additionally, we are working with our roads unit to limit parking in the CBD from 4.30pm onwards to allow for the entire street to be used for movement,” said Gama.
