Platinum host Hwange

FC Platinum skipper, Daniel Veremu, had appeared to have won the match for his side with a late strike.

The platinum miners’ coach, Tennant Chilumba, today faces his former paymasters and yesterday told The Herald that he just wanted the three points on offer.

“Morale is high in our camp and we are not looking at what Hwange are doing or how they have been playing,” said the Zambian, whose team has dropped four points in their last two league games.

“What we want at the moment are the points so that we relieve pressure from the chasing teams like Highlanders, How Mine, Harare City and Dynamos.

“Of course Hwange appear like they have started winning and they cannot be taken lightly. We just need to take our chances when we get them.”
Hwange have never beaten the Zvishavane team since FC Platinum came into the top-flight league two years ago.

Their best show was a 1-1 draw when Rahman Gumbo was still in charge.

FC Platinum will be without the influential Ali Sadiki, who is injured.

“We have nothing to prove to Hwange but we are just going to try and maintain our consistency as a team,” said FC Platinum assistant coach, Tendai Chikuni.

“They always try to make life difficult for us.

“After sharing points with Monomotapa last Saturday we need to get back to our winning ways.”

The team only trained one day before their trip to Hwange where they lost 3-1.

They were expected on the road again yesterday from the Beitbridge home since their ground Dulibadzimu was condemned for matches involving big teams like CAPS United, Highlanders and Dynamos.

The club was also sweating over injuries to Webster Chingodza, Edmore Chafungamoyo and Givemore Fireyi.

Monomotapa and Highlanders will renew their rivalry tomorrow at Rufaro in game that promises a lot of fireworks.
