TITLE contenders FC Platinum a�� who are among the early pacesetters in the 2016 Premier Soccer League championship race a�� have lost influential Zambian striker Obrey Chirwa to Tanzanian giants Young African Sports Club (YANGA).
Chirwa (ABOVE) joins two former FC Platinum players Donald Ngoma and Thabani Kamusoko who joined the Tanzanian team last year and have both made an impact since moving to Dar es Salaam.
FC Platinum spokesperson Chido Chizondo confirmed the move.
a�?Chirwa joined Young African Sports Club on a permanent move and we wish him the best on his future endeavours,a�? said Chizondo, although she was not at liberty to divulge the finer details of the deal.
The big striker bade farewell to his FC Platinum teammates last week on Friday.
YANGA are believed to have paid just over $100 000 to land Chirwaa��s signature.
Yanga are preparing for the CAF Confederations Cup in Group A with Mo Bejaia of Algeria, TP Mazembe from DRC as well as Ghanaa��s Medeama and believe Chirwa would be a valuable addition to the squad.
The forceful striker last year turned down a move to Danish Hobro IK over unsatisfactory financial terms.
The last few weeks have seen a surge of interest in Zimbabwean players and coaches by teams on the Tanzanian shores with Warriors coach Callisto Pasuwaa��s signature reportedly chased by Simba SC to prise him away to the East African country.
Highlanders striker Knox Mutizwa was also said to be on the Simba SC radar although indications are that he will be heading to South African Premiership side Bidvest Wits.
Ironically both Pasuwa and Mutizwa are managed by player agent Gibson Mahachi.
