PLUMTREE Town Council has invited tenders for the supply of vehicles and equipment as part of efforts to improve service delivery in the border town.

In a notice, the local authority said the tenders seek suppliers for utility vehicles, motorbikes and heavy-duty machinery to be used across departments.

Under tender number PTC/ADM/01/25, the council is seeking “Domestic Tender for the Supply and Delivery of Utility Vehicles (1/2 tonne single cab pick up and 4×2 single cab).” Another tender, PTC/ADM/32/35, is for the supply and delivery of motorbikes.

An international tender, PTC/ENG/15/25, has also been floated for “the supply and delivery of various plant and equipment machinery,” which includes a TLB, tipper, steel drum roller, motorised bowser, honey sucker and a 5 to 7-tonne truck.

All bids are expected to be submitted by 11AM on 30 September.

Town Clerk Mr Thembalami Nyoni said the initiative is part of the council’s strategy to improve efficiency and reduce reliance on external contractors.

“We are planning to capacitate Council by doing servicing in-house. We want to buy tippers, motorised bowser, and roller for roads construction through tender,” he said.

He said bringing services in-house will help the council attend to 75 percent of civil works directly.

“This will address the poor road network, poor execution of civil works, costly works redos and poor turnaround times for services needed by residents,” said Mr Nyoni.
