Plumtree town councillors, on Friday, took the lead in the Presidential national clean-up exercise initiated by President Mnangagwa to take place on the first Friday of every month.
The clean-up commenced at 8am from George Silundika Business Centre, followed by a drugs and substance abuse march.
The exercise covered four other places, namely Izimnyama Road, Ingwenya Drive, Barring Road, and Dingumuzi Rank. Phakamani High School staff, learners, and local residents took part in the exercise.
Ward five Councillor, Maxwell Washaya, said the town is now a fresher place to breathe, as it follows these Presidential national clean-ups monthly.
“There are eight councillors from different wards who spearheaded today’s exercise. We as councillors including the town secretary Mr Thembelani Nyoni, noticed that George Silundika Business Centre has more litter than other places, so we decided to come here together with Phakamani learners, as the school is located nearby,” he said.
