Poacher shot dead in Mana Pools

Rangers investigating gunshots tracked down three poachers and caught them as they hacked tusks from an elephant.
In the ensuing exchange of gunfire, a poa-cher was killed while the other two escaped.
Parks public relations manager Ms Caroline Washaya-Moyo yesterday said the rangers recovered two .303 rifles, an axe and a knife.
“On March 29 around 4pm, an officer on patrol in the Chitake area heard two gunshots about 3km southeast of Chitake Spring.
“The body was taken to Karoi Hospital mortuary. The poachers are suspected to be locals,” said Ms Washaya-Moyo. Three weeks ago, parks rangers shot and killed two poachers in Chizarira National Park.
