Poet compiles GBV poems

A 23-year-old South Africa-based Bulawayo man has put together an anthology in commemoration of 16 days of activism against gender-based violence.

Thuthukani Ndlovu, who resides in Bloemfontein, South Africa said the anthology which is entitled, 16 Poems on Activism Against Gender Based Violence which is a digital book and is available for free online reading or free downloading from Ndlovu’s blog site.

The anthology is a way of bringing writers and poets from around the world together to use their craft to address social issues, and as a result, the poems in the collection are from various poets including Canada-based Juliet Kego from South Africa and Hape Mokele, also from South Africa.

The book provides a platform for poets from around the world to use their creative talent to address either the problems caused by gender-based violence or provide solutions to ending it in different communities.

The book will serve as a source of information pertaining to gender-based violence.

The book does not only contain poems, but also useful information in the form of pictures, statistics and guidelines as to how one can play an active role in the fight against gender-based violence. Ndlovu is a Zimbabwean youth doing his third-year in Marketing at the University of the Free State (Bloemfontein, South Africa).

Apart from being a marketing student, he has been involved with TEDxUFS, the Institute for Reconciliation and Social Justice UFS, and he’s currently doing he’s marketing internship at Vrystaat Kunstefees (Free State Arts Festival).
