Pamberi Trust and Zimbabwe Poets for Human Rights will co-host the ‘‘House of Hunger’’ Poetry Slam at Zimbabwe’s cultural hub Book Café.
The event dubbed “Celebrating Black History” is going to be a commemoration of heroes who have continued to inspire the progression of the African people in Zimbabwe world over even after their brutal death.
In an interview with The Herald Entertainment, one of the organisers of the event Hector Mugani said the event will give poets a platform to showcase their talent.
“The ‘House of Hunger’ Poetry Slam, a project by Pamberi Trust is named after the prize-winning novel by the late Dambudzo Marechera who is one of Zimbabwe’s greatest writers. It gives poets a platform for free creative expression and has been staged monthly since August 2005,” he said.
He said it also pays tribute to the people who initiated the Poetry Slam with names like Chirikure Chirikure , who is the current patron of the ‘‘slam’’, together with brilliant poets like Cde Fatso, Victor Mavedzenge, Victor Moyo, Batsirai Chigama, Outspoken, PSP, Xapa, Biko, Shoes Lambada, Micheal Mabwe, Matumwapavi, Ticha Muzavazi, Itsbho.com and Memza Kitchen.
