It appears the new pole dancers are posing stiff competition to the already well-known names like Beverly Sibanda and Zoey Sifelani.
Brenda Chitsiga, the new dance sensation popularly known in nightclubs as Cocoo, has been through it all having worked with the likes of Bev and Zoey, and has assembled her own group La-Dolce.
The group comprises a South African from Soweto, Malinha Dlamini aka S’mama S’maphate, Mozambican Angela Anitula ala Flaky and Thandazani Nkhize from Nkayi.
The 20-year-old beauty therapist works at a massage parlour in Ashdown Park during the day and at night she hops from one club to the other charming her audiences on the pole. The new sensation has become the talk of the town considering her agility and dances that have left many drooling.
In an interview with Saturday Lifestyle, Cocoo said she was filling the gap between Bev and Zoey.
“This is not competititon; all I am doing is providing an alternative to Bev and Zoey. Pole dancing is still the same but the only difference is how you do it. There is so much one can do on the pole and we bring energy to the dance,” she said.
Asked why she formed the group, Cocoo said she was tired of working for others when she was the drawcard.
“I used to dance for both Bev and Zoey but I realised there was a gap which the two could not fill. Wherever I went fans would follow me and they urged me to start my own thing and I owe it to them.”
She said most of her group members were professional pole dancers with the most qualified being S’mama S’maphate, who has been in the trade for seven years.
The last time the group performed at Plaza De Castilla in Harare’s Greencroft they left the crowd gaping with amazement.
They left no stone unturned as they pleased their fans with some serious sexy moves bordering on pornography.
