Police happy with peaceful environment

Police in Mashonaland Central have not recorded any case of politically-motivated violence in the province and are continuing to preach the gospel of peace. Speaking during a campaign against violence ahead of this year’s harmonised elections in Bindura town recently, acting Mashonaland Central provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Petros Masikati, said there was need for voters to respect each other’s political affiliation and vote peacefully.

“So far there are no reported cases of politically-motivated violence in the province,” he said. “We are saying let us continue to preach the gospel of peace that President Mnangagwa is always preaching. Let us respect each other’s political affiliation and shun violence before, during and after the harmonised elections for there to be free, fair and credible.

“This is not the time to settle personal vendettas in the guise of political campaigns.
“This is only a passing phase and we will soon revert back to our normal social norms,” he said.
