POLICE in Nyamapanda on Monday recovered close to 600kg of dagga worth more than $58 000 from a South African- registered DAF truck, leading to the arrest of two people.

In a statement yesterday, ZRP national spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba confirmed the seizure of the contraband.

“Police officers and Zimra officials were carrying out routine checks when a sniffer dog picked up a scent from a South African-registered DAF truck.

“A search was conducted and 21 bags of dagga weighing 581kg were recovered stashed in the vehicle trailer.

“The dagga has a street value of $58 100,” she said, without specifying were the truck was headed.
