Police Investigating April month-end murder cases

The Zimbabwe Republic Police has launched investigations into murder cases that occurred at the end of this month around the country.

In the first case, police in a statement posted on their Twitter said they were investigating a hit-and-run accident, which resulted in the death of an 83-year-old man.

“Police in Mbembesi are investigating a fatal hit-and-run road traffic accident that occurred at the 405-kilometre peg along Harare-Bulawayo Road on 28/04/23. An unknown motorist hit an 83-year-old man and did not stop after the accident. The victim died on the spot after sustaining multiple injuries all over the body. Anyone with information to report at any nearest police station” read the statement.

In the second incident, police in Gweru confirmed the arrest of two suspects in connection with a murder case, where the deceased was bludgeoned to death.

“Police in Gweru have arrested Dontcans Bhobho (25) and Wedzerai Chinongwa (41) in connection with a case of murder which occurred on 28/04/23 at a night club at Ascot Extension Business Centre, where the victim, Ashley Majera (18), died after allegedly being attacked by the suspects, following a dispute over beer. Dontcans Bhobho allegedly hit the victim with a beer bottle and a stone on the head, while Wedzerai Chinhongwa stabbed him with a knife in the legs,” said police.

Meanwhile, police in Chiredzi are also investigating a murder case that occurred on 28 April this year at a beer hall where the suspect, only identified as Jordan, stabbed the victim with an unknown object on the neck after an argument over a girlfriend.

 

“The victim died whilst on admission at a local hospital in Chiredzi. The suspect is on the run. Anyone with information to report at any nearest police station” said police.
