Police have released the names of victims who died in fatal road accidents that occurred in Mutare, Juru, and Masvingo between August 28 to 30, 2025.
The first accident occurred at the 46-kilometre peg along the Mutare–Masvingo Road in Mutare on August 28, while the second accident occurred at the 49-kilometre peg along the Harare–Nyamapanda Road in Juru on August 29. The third accident occurred at the 246-kilometre peg along the Mutare–Masvingo Road in Masvingo.
According to a statement released on Sunday, the victims were identified through their next of kin.
Those who died in the August 28 accident are Godfrey Chikosi (45), a man from Rowa East, Zimunya, Mutare; Vincent Museza (32), a man of Rowa East, Zimunya, Mutare; Patience Musabayana (30), a woman from Mafuke Village, Zimunya, Mutare; Melissa Chigonde (22), woman from Zindi, Honde Valley; Anna Mudzingwa, woman from Rowa East, Zimunya, Mutare; and Maybe Mundondo, a woman from Rowa East, Zimunya, Mutare.
The August 29 2025 accident claimed Sunday Stenlodge (23), a man from Binga Village, Domboshava; Fadzai Kamurai (25), a woman from Parirewa Village, Domboshava; Lin Nyamhunga, a baby girl aged four of Parirewa Village, Domboshava; Nyasha Nyamhunga, a baby boy aged six months of Parirewa Village, Domboshava; Matilda Dzangu (28), a woman from Parirewa Village, Domboshava; Kersely Matangaidza, a baby girl aged two of Kuwadzana 5, Harare; and Tariro Matangaidza, a girl aged 15 fromKuwadzana 5, Harare.
The victims of the August 30 accident were identified as: Moses Nyazika (47), a man from Mutare; Tamari Nyakabau (39), woman from Link Road, Mutare; Juliet Mabika (33), a woman from Nyanyadzi; Happymore Mhuka (37), a man from Chikanga, Mutare; Everson Chazvino (24), a man from ZIMTA, Mutare; Tafadzwa Jacopo (27), a woman from ZIMTA, Mutare; Maybe Mazuwa (44), a woman from Pangholin, Masvingo; and Clever Murwei (46), a man from Chikanga, Mutare.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police extends its deepest condolences to the families of the victims. We appeal to drivers to seriously consider road safety while travelling on the country’s roads,” said Commissioner Nyathi.
