Police have released the name of a man who died in a road traffic accident that occurred on 1 August 2025 at around 8PM along 12th Avenue Extension and Sherwood Drive in Ilanda, Bulawayo.
Bulawayo Provincial Police Spokesperson Inspector Nomalanga Msebele confirmed the incident and identified the man as Dumisani Zhangare.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms a fatal road traffic accident which occurred on the 1st of August 2025 at around 2000 hours along 12th Avenue Extension and Sherwood Drive, Ilanda, Bulawayo, where Dumisani Zhangare, a male adult, was killed and two others were injured,” said Inspector Msebele.
She said a 40 year old man from Ilanda, was driving a Mercedes Benz due north along 12th Avenue Extension with one passenger on board, when an Isuzu DMAX being driven by a 37-year-old man of Burna Vista, Bulawayo, turned right in front of oncoming traffic and was hit on the left side doors, turned, and landed on the left side of the road.
“As a result of the accident, both drivers sustained varying injuries whilst a passenger was killed. The injured were ferried to hospital for treatment while the body of the deceased was conveyed to mortuary for post-mortem,” said Inspector Msebele.
