Police probe Redcliff bar robbery

Midlands Correspondent
MIDLANDS police have launched an investigation after a bar patron whipped out a gun and robbed two fellow drinkers and the barman of cash and mobile phones. The gunman fled Mumvuri Bar in Redcliff after locking his victims in a room. On Friday, Midlands police spokesman Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said no arrest had been made over Tuesday night’s incident.

He told the Chronicle: “Our suspect was drinking beer when he suddenly produced a pistol and ordered two other patrons, Lumani Munkuli and Elson Munkombwe, to lie on the floor.

“He searched them and took Nokia and G-tel mobile phones and some cash from the two.”
The gunman force-marched Munkombwe and Munkuli to where the barman, Felix Rushwaya, was  standing.

“The three were locked in a room in the bar and the robber left, taking a cash box which had a yet-to-be established amount of money.”
The three men managed to get out after 20 minutes and raised the alarm.

Police have asked for the public’s help in their bid to track down the gunman.
