camp near Shamva, Asst Comm Mubaiwa said the force would do everything at its disposable to ensure peace prevailed.
“We are quite ready, almost every member in our force has gone through public order and disorder management and this equips the force to deal effectively with cases of disturbances,” he said.
Asst Comm Mubaiwa urged members of the public to trust the force.
“Our people are properly trained. We do not beat up people, but we have a public relations system which does not condone violence,” he said.
Meanwhile in a speech read on his behalf at the graduation by Asst Comm Mubaiwa, Senior Assistant Commissioner Mekia Tanyanyiwa urged members of police to desist from dishonest practices.
“Let me warn you to desist from engaging yourselves in such heinous activities, which continue to tarnish the image of the force,” he said.
“We cannot afford to let this scenario continue and as such no stone will be left unturned as we intensify our efforts to rid the Unit of rogue members who misguidedly abuse service weapons to commit crimes.”
“The ZRP has a responsibility to cultivate a peaceful environment that enables our people to pursue their economic and social dreams without fear of crime or harassment by criminals,” he said.
Snr Asst Comm Tanyanyiwa urged the graduates to uphold police values and adapt to new trends in crime solving.
“In the current environment, criminals have assumed high levels of sophistry as they seek to make a living out of dishonest practices,” he said.
“I am appealing to you to remain uptight, disciplined and focused in the discharge of the sacred role of your duties as enshrined in the Constitution of Zimbabwe.”
The inductees went through a three-month training course which covered the history of Zimbabwe, human rights and policing, public order and disorder management, foot and arms drill, field craft, battle craft, physical training, weapon handling and map craft engineering.
Constable Shenade Elias scooped the Most Disciplined student award.
